Where did Tooty Frooties go?

It’s the worst news for the fans, but Rowntrees Tooty Frooties have been discontinued. These brilliant fruity-flavoured sweets have been loved for over 60 years and adored by so many across the country. Some may even feel they were their favourite British sweet that stood the test of time. Until now.

If you haven’t heard of them before, the delicious, fruity sweets had hard, sugar shells and a softer fruity centre. They were one of the tastiest chewy sweets to hit the shops packed with fruity flavours. Each colour was bursting with its own individual fruit flavour.

Tooty Frooties were quietly discontinued by Nestlé in 2019 but now the confectionery giant has confirmed they won’t be coming back to supermarket shelves any time soon. Much to the outrage of their fans who decided to stockpile the colourful sweets.

What were the Tooty Frooty ingredients?

They contained the following ingredients:

Sugar, Glucose Syrup, Vegetable Fat, Malic Acid, Citric Acid, Gum Arabic( Acidity Regulator) Trisodium Citrate, Invert Sugar Syrup( Carnauba Wax). Colours: Beta-carotene, Vegetable Carbon, Flavours: Grape Concentrate, Apple Juice Concentrate, Spirulina, Allergens: GLUTEN,

They were not suitable for children under 3 years old.

When did they announce the end of them?

The news was first announced on Twitter when Rowntree responded directly to a man by the name of ‘Philip Reynolds.

Philip inquired: “Nestlé are you seriously discontinuing Tooty Frooties? STAP IT!!!”

And then Nestlé responded: “Unfortunately we’ve had to say goodbye to Tooty Frooties, Philip. Our love for Tooty Frooties will always be there, but for now, we have to let it go.”

When were Tooty Frooties discontinued?

They were discontinued very recently, in 2019, which is a tragedy as there’s never been a sweet like them. The closest sweets to these delicious, fruity ones are probably Skittles, there aren’t many others like them.

Are these sweets still available for sale in the shops?

No, unfortunately, they’re discontinued so although some shops could still have stock. Once that’s all sold, Tooty Frooties will be no more and will only exist in the memories of those that loved them as a kid.

It’s a shame as they used to go really well with Jelly Tots, Dweebs and maybe even a tasty pack of Poppets!
